What is career counseling?

💡 Career counseling can help you make satisfying decisions about your education and future career.

💡 The goal of career counseling is to assist students in finding a good fit between who they are as people and their occupational pursuits.

💡 The focus is to assist students in identifying their personality traits, interests, strengths, values and skills as they relate to making decisions about academic majors and career paths.

💡 Career counseling can help you get started with your career planning, which is often said to be a four stage process.

💡 The Career Exploration Center specializes in helping NMSU students with the first three stages, while Career Services focuses on fostering strategic job search skills.
