What is Career Advising?

Career advising can help you make satisfying decisions about your education and future career. The goal of career advising is to assist students in finding a good fit between who they are as people and their occupational pursuits. The focus is to assist students in identifying their personality traits, interests, strengths, values and skills as they relate to making decisions about academic majors and career paths.

Career advising can help you get started with your career planning, which is often said to be a four-stage process.

If you are:

  • unsure about what you want to do for a living,
  • don’t like your current classes
  • are considering changing your major but don’t know what you want to study
  • don’t know what careers relate to your major
